Café Refreshments Assistant

Volunteers are needed to prepare and serve drinks and biscuits in the café for visiting groups and on event days. The Inside and outside eating areas need to be kept presentable and clean ensuring a pleasant experience for the customers.
About The Role:
To assist in providing a friendly atmosphere to ensure the visitors enjoy their day out.
To assist in maintaining a high quality service to visitors.
Making tea and coffee and serve visitors from the café servery or to other rooms as required.
Being prepared to engage with the visitors in a friendly and helpful manner.
To clean tables and chairs, sweep the floor (and mop up spills where necessary).
Insure the seating areas are kept tidy, clear of rubbish and clean.
Answer the visitors’ questions about the site, events and activities or direct them to staff or other volunteers who can give them the information.
Ensure the café hygiene standards are met.
To work as part of the team.
To be responsible for materials/equipment and items used in conjunction with the duties carried out.
Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the Company’s Health and Safety policy and other relevant policies.
What skills do I need?
We seek someone:
Able to work with a wide range of the public in a calm, helpful and friendly way. Professional impression to the visitors by dressing appropriately and presenting a clean and tidy image.
Good general hygiene standards and ability to understand and follow the hygiene procedures for the café. Ability and enthusiasm to develop a basic knowledge of, and keep up-to-date with the café, and general, facilities, activities and events.
Ability to maintain a calm and efficient attitude on busy days.
Desirable : skills/experience/attributes (not essential)
Experience of working/volunteering in a café setting or similar.
Experience in working with the public. Food Hygiene certificate level two First Aid Qualification

Availability details
Mostly between 10.30am-4.30pm Ideally you would be willing to volunteer days or part days. There is a rota for when we are open to the public. Volunteers offer their time and a rota is drawn up to best cover the tasks.
