We are seeking volunteers to teach participants both the theory and practice of music production, using equipment such as microphones, MIDI keyboards, Apple Mac computers, and speakers.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Arrive at the library to lead music production sessions, covering both theoretical concepts and practical skills.
  • Teach participants how to use music production software and hardware.
  • Develop lesson plans as the club grows, although early sessions may focus on participants’ specific goals (e.g., creating a track, recording a song, learning keyboard skills, or exploring the music industry).
  • Work with participants of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Schedule sessions at a regular day and time convenient for you (to be discussed during the interview).
  • Conduct sessions lasting at least one hour.

What skills do I need?

Essential Skills:

  • Strong skills in music production.
  • Good understanding of music theory.
  • Proficiency with Apple Mac computers.
  • Ability to use music production and editing software.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Excellent communication and teaching abilities.
  • Confidence speaking to groups.
  • Positive, patient, cheerful, and understanding attitude.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Willingness to learn and embrace new challenges.

Desirable (but not required):

  • Experience singing or playing an instrument.
  • Some knowledge of the music industry.
