Reading Hero volunteer
Organisation
Success Club Charity
As a Reading Hero volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in helping children build confidence and improve their reading skills by reading with individuals or small groups in one of our partner primary schools. This programme focuses on fostering a love of reading, boosting self-esteem, and unlocking new opportunities for children who may not have access to books or reading role models at home. With a weekly or fortnightly commitment of just two hours per week for at least a term, you’ll make a meaningful impact while sharing the joy of reading. If you’re passionate, patient, and eager to support young learners, this is the perfect opportunity for you.
What skills do I need?
We’re looking for volunteers who enjoy books and reading; who have a genuine desire and interest in working with children and young people; and who bring a positive attitude and energy to every interaction. Compassion, kindness, and a willingness to support others are key qualities, along with reliability and a strong sense of commitment. Flexibility and the ability to jump into various tasks with enthusiasm will help ensure a rewarding experience for both you and the school communities we serve. We provide training alongside volunteering so that you can get the most out of what you are doing.
