Be one of a team of uniformed volunteers assisting visitors to get the most out the experience of being at this historic and natural site. Front of house duties include welcoming visitors onto site, staffing exhibitions, assisting with events and directing visitors in the car park. Flexible times during our open days. Training is given. To assist the Royal Gunpowder Mills staff with “front of house” duties in providing a high quality service to visitors· To meet and greet visitors and welcome them to the site · To guide and help visitors to get the most out of their visit ensuring they have an enjoyable and safe time ·tell visitors about the events happening that day and direct visitors to the site entrance/ticket office · To assist in answering visitors questions and/or directing them to where they might find further information · Help visitors to operate the lift , check on the running of the film and exhibition interactives in our main exhibition building· To look out for rubbish and check areas are presentable · Ensuring that all work is carried out in accordance with the Company’s Health and Safety Policy and other relevant policies
What skills do I need?
With the ability to project a good impression and image through self-presentation and manner; Confident with their communication skills including listening, observing, answering questions and explaining clearly and effectively; Able to work with a wide range of people, including the public, in a calm, helpful and friendly way – With an interest in heritage/nature/history/science ;With the ability and enthusiasm to keep up to date with facilities and events. Ideally you would be willing to volunteer days (or half days) on Sundays. There is a rota for when we are open to the public. Volunteers offer their time and a rota is drawn up tobest cover the tasks.
