We are seeking a Treasurer/Trustee to manage the finances of the Branch, ensuring that financial transactions are recorded and responsibly handled in line with charity regulations and our policies.  You will play a key strategic role in supporting the Senior Leadership Team to ensure the charity delivers maximum impact for people in emotional distress. A full handover will be provided to help you settle into the role with confidence and clarity.

Responsibilities:

– To be part of the Branch Leadership Team (BLT) and provide support and advice in relation to financial matters

– Manage the branch’s finances. and oversee and present budgets, accounts and financial statements.

– Ensure proper accounts and records are kept, ensuring financial resources are spent and invested in line with good governance, legal and regulatory requirements.

– To be instrumental in the development and implementation of financial, reserves and investment policies.

– Attend meetings and report on the branch’s financial position as and when required. This includes monthly BLT meetings and bi-monthly trustee meetings and presenting updates at the Annual General Meeting.

– Organise and lead regular finance team meetings and keep the team appraised of developments and updates.

– Work with an auditor to prepare an annual financial statement for Samaritans Central Charity and the Charities Commission

– To ensure income and expenditure is processed in line with branch policies and procedures 


What skills do I need?

– Experience of financial administration, financial management, and of managing budgets and banking processes.
– Strong organisational and numerical skills
– Commitment to Samaritans’ values of compassion and confidentiality
– Good administration and PC experience
• Good organisational skills and an ability to adhere to deadline
