Do you have trustee or governance experience? Would you like the opportunity to apply this experience in a meaningful volunteer role to launch young people for life, whilst also enhancing your skills, boosting your self-esteem and meeting new people? Edmonton Sea Cadets is a volunteer-run youth development organisation. We offer young people aged 10-18 the opportunity to experience life-changing adventure. Edmonton Unit is looking for enthusiastic trustees to join its Unit Management Team (UMT).

About the Volunteer Trustee role: The tasks of a trustee include but are not limited to the following: • Support the UMT Chairperson to manage a safe, effective, and successful sea cadet unit. • Support the UMT in ensuring all unit activities and matters comply with appropriate regulations and Marine Society and Sea Cadet (MSSC) policies. • Support the unit’s fundraising efforts. • Ensure that all young people and instructors at the unit are engaged in fun and safe activities. • Attend a regular UMT meeting – usually 1 hour, monthly or bi-monthly, on a weekday evening.

What skills do I need?

Previous trustee/governance experience would be a benefit, but having the right attitude and a passion for improving the lives of young people are the most important things! Availability details

Most of the work of a Trustee can be done from home. However you would have to attend a regular UMT meeting – usually 1 hour, monthly or bi-monthly, on a weekday evening. Additionally, you would need to attend any fundraising or other events organised by the UMT.
